Our Story

Where the Wild Things Are Photographed

Natural Notes Studio is the work of Jill Purcell — a wildlife and nature photographer based in the American West. Every image begins in the field: early mornings, patient waiting, and a deep respect for the landscapes and creatures that make this region extraordinary.

A Life Spent Outside

My connection to nature began long before I picked up a camera. I grew up spending time outside with my dad—hunting, exploring, and learning to slow down and notice the wildlife around me. Since then, the outdoors has remained a constant in my life, whether I’m traveling, working outside, or simply watching an animal move through its natural habitat.

Photography became a way to hold onto those moments and share them with others. I love the patience of it—the waiting, the watching, and never quite knowing what the wild will offer. Natural Notes Studio grew from that lifelong connection and my desire to turn those encounters into something you can hold, send, and enjoy.

The Work

Every piece in the Natural Notes Studio collection begins with an original photograph taken in the wild or artwork inspired by my time outdoors. From printing postcards and fine art prints to cutting stickers and etching glass, everything is made by hand in my home studio. No two pieces are exactly alike—the small variations are part of what makes handmade work special. Each one is created with care to bring a little piece of the wild into your everyday life.

Made to Last

Whether it's a postcard tucked into a letter or a print on your wall, each piece is made with care and meant to endure. The Snail Mail Club brings a curated selection of original postcards to your door each month — a small, tangible connection to the natural world.

Thank you for being here. The wild is worth sharing.
